Dr. Darren Altadonna

Dr. Darren Altadonna has been a part of The Smile Shoppe team since April 1997. He is a 1991 graduate of Eastern Illinois University and a 1995 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He has been active in organized dentistry, with memberships in the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Madison District Dental Society, having served as President and is currently the Executive Director. He is also a member of the International Association for Orthodontics, the American Orthodontic Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. He earned his Fellowship award in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2006, something only 6% of practicing dentists have achieved. 

Outside of dentistry, he is also active in the Highland Community. He is a member of the Highland Optimist Club and has served on the board of directors for the Highland Area Community Foundation, of which he was president, and the St. Joseph Hospital Board. He coached basketball at the Highland Middle School from 2012 - 2020.

Dr. Altadonna hails from Centralia orginally. He married his wife, Susan, in June 1998, having lived in Highland since that time. They have two children, Cameron who is in dental school at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, and Cade who will be attending the University of Kentucky majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy.
